After teasing new music earlier this week, Foo Fighters have released their new single “Under You”.
The first single from the album “Rescued”, was released in April and seemed to reference Hawkins’ death in its opening lines: “It came out of nowhere, it happened so fast… is this happening now?”
“But Here We Are” is the band’s first album since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins last year.
The Foos have said Hawkins’ death will be a central theme of the album – which is reflected in lyrics such as, “There’s no getting over it”.
The band calls the album, “A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” – but also “A testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family”.
“But Here We Are” will be out June 2nd.
Bay Area fans can see the Foo Fighters perform at Outside Lands as they headline the festival on Saturday, August 12th.
