Daughtry, Lzzy Hale Share Official Music Video for Live Journey Cover

Daughtry and Lzzy Hale have released an official music video for their live cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)”.

Daughtry performed the song earlier this year at Royal Albert Hall in London.

A studio version of the cover was released in January on the 40th anniversary of the original.

Believe it or not, the collaboration was inspired by “Stranger Things”. In an interview, the rocker said watching the show with his wife Deanna inspired his brand-new cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways” featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.

He explained, “I was watching the finale of ‘Stranger Things’, and they used ‘Separate Ways’ in this incredibly epic scene. It was so moving, and me and my wife were watching. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is the song we need to cover,’  and, to my knowledge, I don’t think anyone has put a version out.”

He went on to say, “Lzzy and I had been talking for years about working together, and we have so much respect for each other as friends and artists. I called her and was like, ‘Would you be interested?’ And she was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s my go-to karaoke song.’ It just felt like it was meant to happen.”

Daughtry will go on “The Bare Bones Acoustic Tour” this summer, stopping at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, California on September 13th and at the Luther Bank Center in Santa Rosa, California on September 15th.
