Gallagher Calls out America on Terrible Reception to Songs

Matthew Baker/Redferns

Noel Gallagher is calling out the “terrible” reception of American audiences towards his latest High Flying Birds album, “Council Skies.”

In an interview, the former Oasis rocker said that responses to his new songs have not been good at his live US shows so far.

He explained, “I’m starting off with five new ones. People should have bought the f**king album, then, shouldn’t they? So they’re gonna stand there with their mouths open thinking, ‘What the f**k is this?’ I should advise them to go to their preferred streaming service.”

Another complaint Gallagher had was in reference to the popular television show “Friends.”

Noel Gallagher blamed the show and the rise of coffee shops for the fall in music sales. Gallagher discussed how the change in people’s spending habits and priorities has taken them away from supporting artists.

He said, “It is sitting around in sweaters drinking overpriced coffee and talking about nonsense. Since the rise of the coffee shop, culture has disappeared. People are horrified that they have to pay for music! But $20 for two coffees, oh, absolutely. I haven’t got the brain capacity to process this.”
