The owners of the giant mechanical bull that made a splash at last year’s Commonwealth Games are looking for a name for the motorized beast – and they’re considering naming it after Ozzy Osbourne.
“Ozzy” is one of four names that have been selected as finalists, joining Bostin, Brummie, and Boulton, says Lord Peter Hendy, chairman of Network Rail, which is putting the 33-foot contraption on display at its Birmingham New Street station.
“The bull was an icon of the Commonwealth Games and we just had to save it and give it a permanent home,” Hendy says. “The response to the competition was amazing, with nearly 2,000 people sending in their suggestions. It’s over to the public to make the all-important final decision.” Fans have until June 20th to cast their votes, Hendy says.
Osbourne, along with fellow Black Sabbath alum Tony Iommi, made a surprise appearance at the Commonwealth Games, performing the band’s classic tune “Paranoid.”
