A guitar used in the video for Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher” showed up on a recent episode of Pawn Stars.
No, not the actual Kramer guitar Eddie Van Halen plays in the video – that guitar recently auctioned for a whopping $3.9 million back in April. The starting bid for the guitar was $1,800,000 and was expected to fetch between $2-3 million. However, it actually sold for $3,932,000, making it one of the five most expensive guitars ever sold at auction. Kurt Cobain’s MTV Unplugged Guitar is number one at $6,010,000.
Instead, a seller named ‘Brian’ showed up with the mini-sized ‘Frankenstrat’ used by the kid version of Eddie in the video.
Brian also had the outfit worn by Young Eddie, and was looking for $100,000 for the whole package. Unfortunately, the Pawn Stars crew offered just $30,000, so he left without a deal.
