Dolly Parton’s upcoming album Rockstar is jam-packed with famous guest stars – but there’s one big name she couldn’t land.
Dolly wanted Mick Jagger to sing on the album because her husband is a huge Rolling Stones fan.
Parton says she ran around “like a high school girl” trying to get Jagger in the studio, but “I kept missing him everywhere”.
While the album doesn’t include Jagger, it does feature incredible stars like Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Steven Tyler, and Kid Rock. Dolly herself said the album may be one of her best yet, claiming “I really think it’s some of the best work I’ve ever done. I think so. Only because it’s different for me. I wanted it to be good.”
The legendary singer decided to make a rock album when she was nominated to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She thought, “Well, if they wanna give it to me anyhow, I’m going to accept it gracefully. And then I’m gonna go ahead and do a rock album and just make the most of it.”
