Billy Joel is giving a thumbs-up to Fall Out Boy’s cover of “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”
The song updates the lyrics to reference world events that have happened since 1989, when Joel’s original version was released.
In a BBC interview, Joel said he’s “heard about” the band’s cover, and that he gets asked about updating the song all the time.
“Everybody said, ‘Are you going to do part two? When are you going to do part two?’ And I said, ‘Nah, I’ve already done part one.’ So, Fall Out Boy, go ahead. Great. Take it away.”
