Rob Halford knows a thing or two about good music. The Judas Priest frontman recently revealed which albums he would take with him if he were stranded on a desert island!

“My number one choice…I’d have to go with Black Sabbath, the original Black Sabbath album that I think is the motivator for all great things in heavy metal.” Halford explained, “Definitely a Jimi Hendrix album because I’m a frustrated guitar player and I love what electric guitars can do. So Electric Ladyland from Jimi Hendrix most definitely.”

“The Rolling Stones Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out…from Madison Square Garden on live record which really shows the energy and power of that band; one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands that ever lived” he continued.

“Let’s bump up into more recent times. Let’s go really fierce and aggressive with something from Slayer… really burn things up on the island. I would go with Reign In Blood because of its fierceness [and] relentless intensity.”

For the fifth and final pick, Halford went “A little more cerebral, if that’s the right word for Maynard’s band Tool…Tool, for me, has always been a great adventure because they go to some remarkable places and it’s really good music to put your headphones on…and get lost in some Tool.”

Rob Halford’s official desert island list:

  • Black Sabbath’s “Black Sabbath”
  • Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland”
  • The Rolling Stones’ “Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out!,”
  • Slayer’s “Reign in Blood”
  • Tool
