GWAR are not exactly known for getting sentimental – but their latest release might have fans tearing up a bit.
That’s because their new song “Tammy, The Swine Queen” is the last one the band recorded with late frontman Dave Brockie – a.k.a. ‘Oderus Urungus’ – before his death in 2014. The song is itself a tribute to another late GWAR member, Corey ‘Flattus Maximus’ Smoot, who died in 2011.
“Tammy, The Swine Queen” appears on the new 10th anniversary edition of GWAR’s 2013 album Battle Maximus.
The band recently announced it will take its “Age of Imbeciles” tour across the U.S. and Canada in October. The tour will kick off on October 11th in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, and wrap up on October 30th in Orlando, Florida.
The band shared the news in a very GWAR-like announcement, stating: “Attention People of Earth! Halloween is coming, and your world is up in flames. You’re a bunch of hairless apes with the smoothest of all brains. We see you there, groping in the chaos of maddening darkness. GWAR is coming to end your suffering, to bring a close to the ‘Age Of Imbeciles’.”
