Ozzy Osbourne is insisting that there was nothing scripted about the original MTV reality hit, The Osbournes.
In an interview, the former Black Sabbath frontman revealed that the series was inspired by MTV Cribs, in which music stars showed off their luxurious homes.
Ozzy explained, “Somebody came and I thought, ‘Give it a shot’, and he came from Crib…I said, ‘Why don’t we do an extended Cribs‘?”
“But that gets pretty old very quick when you got cameras stuck in every room…It grew out of if we did Cribs, then it was an extended Cribs for a week at the Osbournes, which turned into a month at the Osbournes…which turned into The Osbournes which started this f**king whole thing.”
Ozzy noted current reality shows are “all scripted,” but insisted The Osbournes “was not scripted at all.”
He also noted how “courageous” his wife Sharon was when she continued filming after her cancer diagnosis.
“The guy from the crew said, ‘I suppose you want us all to go,’ and I said, ‘Let’s see with Sharon,’ and Sharon says, ‘No, let him stay,'” Osbourne recalls.
Fans are in for another wild ride because, after a five-year hiatus, The Osbournes are bringing back their podcast. Join the legendary family as they “Dive into the worlds of celebrity, true crime, rock and roll, culture, and whatever else [they] damn well please.” The podcast will launch on September 12th.
