Tool is ‘cooking’ up some new music, according to bassist Justin Chancellor.
He told the Vinyl Guide podcast the band had “many ideas cooking” and had spent “a few pretty decent sessions of writing”.
“We haven’t recorded anything yet. But we’re quite busy until — I guess until after the spring of next year touring. So once that’s done, we’re gonna get back in the studio and knuckle down and put some of it together,” Chancellor said.
He added, “We’ve already had a few pretty decent sessions of writing. So we’ve got the ingredients in place. We’ve just gotta really bang it out and spend that time when we’re not touring.”
Tool’s latest album was 2019’s “Fear Inoculum”. The band is currently on tour and decided to kick things off with a special surprise in Loveland, Colorado.
The band performed the 10,000 Days track “Rosetta Stoned” for the first time in more than 14 years. Unfortunately, you won’t find any footage online – Tool has a strict no-phones policy at their live shows.
