Lars Ulrich is loving Metallica’s ‘No Repeat Weekend’ policy on the M72 tour.
The band has been performing two nights in each city – with completely different setlists for each show.
In a recent interview, he revealed that the band has been kicking around the ‘no repeat’ format for a while and he’s glad the idea came to life.
“It’s really, really fun, and it seems like it’s connecting with the fans out there,” Ulrich said.
Fans recently learned another revelation into Ulrich’s performance preferences, all thanks to James Hetfield. The frontman revealed that Ulrich went years without practicing – until recently.
“Lars never rehearsed ever until — I don’t know — I’d say maybe four or five years ago, he started really getting into rehearsing,” Hetfield says. “And now he’ll rehearse four days for a two-hour set, which is what he needs to do, which is awesome.”
Hetfield did not offer a reason for Ulrich’s longtime refusal to rehearse, however, he did share that Ulrich is making up for lost time by rehearsing “for a couple days” before the band’s performance at Power Trip.
The M72 tour will wrap up for the year with stops in St. Louis and Detroit in November, then continue in Europe and North America in 2024.
