Brock Purdy is active.
Despite entering the concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head on Monday night, Purdy progressed through the protocol quickly this week and is active for Sunday’s matchup with the Bengals.
It’s a major boon for a 49ers team is reeling and the second time this season that a 49ers player has progressed through the protocol within a week (OL Jon Feliciano) in order to play the same week.
They do, however, have two major absences. Here’s the 49ers inactive list:
- T Trent Williams (ankle)
- WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder)
- QB Brandon Allen (third qb)
- TE Brayden Willis
- RB Ty Davis-Price
- LB Jalen Graham
- DL Kalia Davis
For the Bengals, running back Chase Brown was placed on injured reserve this week, but it’s a tiny list of inactives:
- LB Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee)
- CB D.J. Ivey
- C Trey Hill
- T Jackson Carman
Williams’ absence is not a surprise for the 49ers, nor is Deebo Samuel’s. Samuel has been dealing with a hairline fracture in his shoulder that needs to heal before he can bet back on the field.
Both players should have a decent chance to return after the 49ers’ upcoming bye.
