The artist formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly is still Machine Gun Kelly.

At a recent appearance on the red carpet for the GQ Men of the Year party, the musician asked photographers to refer to him simply as “Machine,” leading to speculation that he was changing his name.

Entertainment Weekly said this week that Kelly will remain MGK and will not drop the “Gun Kelly” after all.

The publication sys it all started about a year ago, when comedic duo Chad and JT made a video in which they went to a MGK concert with a giant sign that read, “Change your name.”

They later explained that they wanted him to change his name so as not to “glorify machine guns.”
