Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett on the Challenges of Going Solo

While Chris Shiflett has been known as one of the guitarists for Foo Fighters, he has experienced success as a solo artist.

Even though Shiflett released his third solo album this year, he still finds the move to frontman “challenging.”

“Guitar playing is my comfort zone,” he said in an interview with Classic Rock Magazine. “But to be the singer and then also have to talk to the crowd, I had to work at that. What you realize is that people want to have a good time.”

“They’ve hired a sitter, bought tickets, bought a few drinks, maybe bought a t-shirt, they’ve invested in the evening,” he noted. “So that’s my job up on stage, to provide them with a good time. Once I figured that out, things got a lot better.”

Chris Shiflett had two big album releases in 2023: “But Here We Are” with Foo Fighters and his own solo album, “Lost At Sea.”
