One of Green Day’s biggest recent hits was originally meant for a different band.
Billie Joe Armstrong told People magazine the 2016 single “Still Breathing” was written for Australian pop band 5 Seconds of Summer.
Armstrong, however, had different ideas: “All of a sudden I was writing the lyrics, and I was like ‘Oh my God, there’s no f***ing way I’m giving these guys this song.”
It ended up on Green Day’s album Revolution Radio and was released as the second single.
