“Under Pressure” may be one of the most beloved rock songs ever, but not everyone enjoys its sound.
Queen guitarist Brian May recently shared that he doesn’t care for the band’s 1981 collaboration with David Bowie.
Talking with Guitar World, May said Bowie and frontman Freddie Mercury had changed the song from sounding heavier.
“I never liked it, to be honest, the way it was mixed,” said May. “But I do recognise that it works. It’s a point of view, and it’s done very well. And people love it.”
May also shared that when he and the band play the song live these days, the sound “is a lot heavier and I think it benefits from it.”
