Super Bowl LI is set for Sunday, February 5th from NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. It will be a record-breaking 9th Super Bowl appearance for the New England Patriots when they face the Atlanta Falcons, who will be making their 2nd franchise trip to the big game.
There will be a lot of connections between the two teams including the Falcons General Manager, Thomas Dimitroff, who was an executive with the Patriots from 2003-2007. But there is also a rock n’ roll tie between this year’s AFC and NFC champions.
Jon Bon Jovi attended the AFC Championship game as a guest of Patriots owner, Robert Kraft. It wasn’t the first time either as Jon could be seen numerous times sharing the owner’s box at Patriots games throughout the years. Jon’s friendship with Bill Belichick has been documented over the years too. Watch Bill and former Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis join him on stage for “Wanted Dead or Alive”
What was Jon’s associated with the Atlanta Falcons? Turned out, not much. But in 2001 Jon was said to be in negotiations to purchase a 15% share of the Falcons for $150-million. The deal never happened and neither did Bon Jovi’s later attempt to lead a group to purchase the Buffalo Bills.
