Baby Huey and Chasta review Metallica & Iggy Pop collaboration

Check out all the big news of the weekend you might have missed in this week’s edition of Yesterday’s News Today:

Iggy Pop joins Metallica onstage for blistering “T.V. Eye”

Metallica wrapped up three shows in Mexico City over the weekend, and on their final night on stage the band brought out Iggy Pop to rock out to the Stooges Classic “TV Eye. You can check out the video of that performance here. The website Ultimate Classic Rock had this to say about the performance:

“Pop served as the opening act for each of the three shows Metallica played at the massive Foro Sol venue, which drew a grand total of nearly 200,000 fans. James Hetfield welcomed Pop onstage for the final encore, noting that his group “has much respect for the man coming out here to sing a song with us,” and asking the fans to show their love for the punk legend.”

Lady Gaga and Metallica Grammy collaboration rehearsal video released

Metallica recently posted a video of one of the group’s rehearsals for their Grammy performance collaboration with Lady Gaga, one where Metallica lead singer’s James Hetfield’s mic didn’t work. Loudwire.com had this to say about the video:

This was a full-blown dress rehearsal with backup moshers onstage, cued lighting and plumes of fire to coincide with the song’s title. Here, Hetfield’s mic was working just fine and we get to experience the true power of this joint effort as he parries lines with Gaga, who uses a gritty delivery of her own to mirror the frontman.

Mike Patton makes guest apperance at Slim’s in San Francisco

Max and Igor Cavalera surprised the crowd at Slims over the weekend when they brought on Faith No More member Mike Patton. The group played the Sepultura song “Lookaway,” which originally featured Patton as a guest (as well as KORN’s Jonathan Davis). Blabbermouth.net wrote this:

Max and Igor are at the tail end of the second leg of the “Return To Roots” North American tour during which they are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Sepultura’s classic album “Roots” by performing the LP in its entirety.
