Queen has announced they are releasing their own version of Monopoly! In Queen Monopoly, instead of selling and trading houses and hotels as a “real estate agent,” players build the band’s musical career – buying gig locations and hit singles – while avoiding the pitfalls of rock stardom: jail, bankruptcy, and more. The game description says you can “tour the amazing gig history of Queen, from their very first at Imperial College in 1970 to their last with Freddie Mercury at Knebworth Park in 1986.”
Guitarist Brian May tells Planet Rock:
We’ve been very secretly developing Queen Monopoly for over a year. And it’s due in a shop near you in May. I’m excited – it was a blast working on it – like making an album! We hope you love it!
The six player tokens are symbols of Queen’s most iconic musical moments. There’s a giant robot, based on the News of the World album cover, a bicycle from “Bicycle Race,” a vacuum cleaner from the “I Want To Break Free” video, a hammer for “Hammer to Fall,” a radio for “Radio Ga Ga,” and finally; May’s guitar.
At the moment, Queen is touring with American Idol’s Adam Lambert. They are set to perform June 29th at San Jose’s SAP Center. With the new game, fans can rock out and be crowned “champion” (of Monopoly).
