Warner Bros. Pictures presents Blade Runner 2049.

Premise:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Well here it is everyone, it’s 35 years in the making, Blader Runner 2049 is the sequel to 1982’s Blade Runner starring Harrison Ford. I don’t want to spoil anything about the story, but the premise of this movie revolves around a mystery that we see main character Ryan Gosling is trying to figure out. This mystery had me hooked in and watching it unfold is what kept me engage the whole time.

A lot of people have been asking me should they see the first movie before seeing the new one, my answer is yes and no. If you have seen the original movie then it will add to the overall enjoyment of seeing the new movie and at certain moments help you understand certain story points better. However, this movie does a great job of telling a story that can stand on its own.

The visuals and bright colors in this movie are incredible, not just the special effects, but the art design and the props used to help create this gritty futuristic world the story takes place in. The scenery in the city was very cool, the tech and gadgets used in this futuristic world were very fun. I appreciated that they were consisted with the evolution of the tech from the original movie to this new movie. All of this combined made it a very authentic sequel.

As far as the actors, Ryan Gosling was awesome as the lead and hero for this movie. Even though his role was a lot smaller than I expected, Jared Leto was captivating in his scenes. Of course we do see Harrison Ford make a return to his iconic role of Rick Deckard, but he also was not in the movie as much as I wanted.

This movie does have a slow paced. I should give you the heads up that this movie is about two hours and forty three minutes long. So it is long time invested but totally worth it. With that being said, I felt some scenes could have been cut down for times sake.

Overall, this is one of the better sequels we have seen in a long time. A great continuation of the story from the first movie. If you loved the original movie, then you will love this one.

I would rate the film: 7.5/10
