Weezer and Fall Out Boy ‘Family Feud’ Episode Spawns Very Awkward Hug

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.”

Or in this case, Rivers cuts through rockstar Pete Wentz‘ heart after informing him their first hug might be their last.

The persistent bassists of the multi-platinum band Fall Out Boy and singer Rivers Cuomo of the grammy-winning band Weezer were this week’s contestants on Family Feud. However, an awkward hug between Wentz and Cuomo in the show’s open would not be the most awkward part of the episode.

First question: “In hell, all strippers look like your ____”

Wentz was quick to the buzzer and get the fourth rated answer with “your ex-girlfriend,” though Cuomo quickly took the top spot with a sheepish “mom,” a demeanor which left host Steve Harvey was in stitches.

Weezer members, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, Scott Shriner, and their producer Suzy Shinn, knocked themselves out which flipped the opportunity to Team Fall Out Boy. Wentz, along with bandmates Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman, Andy Hurley, and special guest Seth Green all huddled for their best answer.

“Your boss,” was the answer they hoped to carry them to victory.

No dice.

With Weezer taking the round the Harvey revealed the rest of the polled answers. Some answers were those you’d expect like: mother-in-law, or dad, though some answers like: wife/partner and dog, caught contestants off guard.

Though not the first time a rock group has graced the stage of Family Feud, the uncomfortably hilarious memory of a friendly Wentz hugging a meek Rivers will certainly be a one to remember.
