The wait is finally over! Listen above to AC/DC’s “Shot in The Dark,” the first single off of their new album PWR/UP.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Angus Young shares “It’s got that great AC/DC vibe about it, great swagger, and a good AC/DC rock & roll chan.,” Angus adds “The title is a little bit cheeky because we all like a little nip [of alcohol] in the night or a few shots in the dark. I was very glad when the record company heard it [that] they felt it was a very strong song and should be the first one that people hear.” He then adds “This record is pretty much a dedication to Malcolm, my brother,..It’s a tribute for him like ‘Back in Black’ was a tribute to Bon Scott.”
The band’s comeback has been rumored for months, but they made it official on Wednesday, with a revamped website and a band photo including Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd, and Stevie Young. AC/DC also seems to have revealed the title of their upcoming album – PWR/UP. It will reportedly include tracks recorded by late guitarist Malcolm Young before his death in 2017. Longtime engineer Mike Fraser confirmed that the new album is full of ‘ideas and riffs’ that Malcolm had written before his death – which his brother Angus and producer Brendan O’Brien incorporated into the new material.
PWR/UP will be available on November 13th.
