Japanese Buddhist Monk Covers AC/DC

For centuries monks believed prayer and meditation were the paths to enlightenment, turns out the real path to enlightenment is rocking out.

The Japanese Buddhist Monk known as Kossan1108 posted an awesome cover of AC/DC‘s timeless Thunderstruck where he sings along with a great Brian Johnson impression. Kossan has even substituted a traditional drum set for traditional bell set, consisting of a wooden temple block and two orin bells which are normally used to keep tempo for incantations of Buddhist prayers or cleanse the room of evil spirits. All his covers are recorded from the small town of Hoshoji in Southern Japan.

The monk even ends his jam sesh with several minutes of prayer and then a cheesy smile.

Kossan’s channel features several other covers of everything from The Beatles, to the Ramones, to God Bless America. Though, our personal favorite is his cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman.
