Sammy Hagar is apologizing for how he depicted Eddie Van Halen in his 2011 memoir. Hagar said that he regrets for exposing Van Halen’s “dark side” in his memoir Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock.

“More than anything, because of the untimely and tragic death of Eddie Van Halen, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for exposing his dark side to where I don’t think anyone wants to hear that now,” Hagar revealed in a recent interview. In his memoir, Hagar wrote of Van Halen’s struggles with alcohol and poor living conditions.
