Rob Halford has identified his favorite heavy metal song of all time – and he’s not exactly going out a limb in doing it.

The Judas Priest frontman says he feels Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” – a track that’s been praised by rock critics for years – stands head and shoulders above other songs in the genre. “‘Paranoid’ is my number one song,” Halford says. “It was one of these game-changing moments that we have in music because it brought out and brought forth a genre and a style of music that lit up the world. Particularly for me as a young musician at the time, ‘Paranoid’ just took off like a heavy metal rocket.”

Halford is currently working on his first solo album, which is expected to be a collection of blues standards.
