We never got a Prince and Eddie Van Halen collaboration, but the two late music legends DID have a brief run-in with one another.
According to Prince’s former drummer Michael Bland, the pair had met for just “a couple of minutes.”
Bland said that the two appeared to be discussing a white pinstripe one-piece that Prince had been wearing at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1991.
“Eddie said something and he started smiling, and he went to touch Prince’s lapel, like, ‘I like that; it’s real sharp,'” Bland said on the Podcast on Prince. “‘I used to wear something like this.’ It’s like that sorta thing – and Eddie did used to wear something like that.”
