Tony Iommi Reveals the Perfume that Reminds him of Death

Former Black Sabbath guitarist Tommy Iommi – who’s an avid perfume collector – says there’s one fragrance in his collection that reminds him of death.

Although Iommi says he can’t remember the name of the perfume, he can immediately identify its scent – and it always causes “a terrible memory” to surface. “It was one of my neighbors in a house I used to live in, and her daughter phoned me up and said, ‘Oh, she’s fallen on the floor,'” he says. “I went over there, and she passed away in my arms.  And she had this perfume on that as soon as I smell it now, it smells like death to me. I don’t know what it was, but when I smell it, it reminds me.”

Iommi’s collection includes at least 80 different types of perfume, which he keeps in a room he calls his “fragrance cave,” he says.

What’s the most bizarre collection you’ve heard of?
