Remembering Layne Staley 20 Years After His Death

April 5, 2022 marks 20 years since Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley passed away.

The frontman was born in Kirkland, Washington on August 22, 1967.

Staley would go on to form Alice in Chains in 1987 alongside Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, and Mike Starr.

Alice in Chains has persevered since Staley’s death with the help of William Duval handling frontman duties since 2006.

Staley’s legacy lives on through the band and several artists covering Alice in Chains, including Nancy Wilson, In Flames, Seether, Incubus, Shinedown, and more?
