Metallica’s Kirk Hammett is going solo with a new instrumental EP – and gave fans a preview on Friday.
The guitarist released “High Plains Drifter”, a flamenco-inspired track recorded with Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore and members of the L.A. Philharmonic.
Hammett said he “really liked” the song when he wrote it, but “it was one of those riffs that would be hard to integrate into Metallica”.
Hammett’s four-song instrumental EP Portals will be released April 23rd.
