Tom Morello will have a new award to set on his shelf.

The Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist is one of this year’s recipients of the “Spirit of John Brown Freedom Award.”

The award honors individuals whose work embodies the civil and human rights spirit of the 19th-century abolitionist.

In and out of music, Morello has been vocal about his views on social justice.

Which musicians do you think are along the same lines as Tom Morello in terms of activism? Do you prefer Morello’s work with Audioslave or Rage Against the Machine?
