Cliff Burton Museum Officially Opens

YouTube, @Tom Johansson.

Thanks to the donations and dedication from Metallica fans from both Europe and Mexico, the Cliff Burton Museum officially opened up on May 14th. Located near where the fateful crash that took the life of Metallica bassist Cliff Burton on September 27, 1986 stands a testament to the love Metallica fans have, especially to the original bassist.

As visitors first trickled into the exhibit, fans took in all the different exhibits deep in thought and also deep in metal mode as there was drinking and the slamming of beers allowed at the event. Though the crash that took Cliff’s life has never truly been explained, this museum will still give Metallica fans in Europe a chance to see and experience Cliff’s life as told through documents, diaries, book excerpts, films and memorabilia collected by Scandinavian and Mexican fans.

Near the museum is of course the crash where fans have gathered there at a memorial stone which was installed in 2006, giving European Metallica fans the closest thing to a grave for them to mourn and remember the fallen performer. Now after they pay their respects they can go into the museum and understand his story.
