Tommy Lee Leaves Stage During Motley Crue’s 1st Tour Stop

The members of Motley Crue kicked off their multi-act “Stadium Tour” Thursday in Atlanta — although one of them didn’t last as long as the other three.

After performing five songs, drummer Tommy Lee told the audience he’d broken four ribs two weeks ago and couldn’t play anymore. Black Sabbath drummer Tommy Clufetos then stepped in for Lee and finished the show.

Sharing more details on Instagram, Lee wrote, “I’ve been resting and healing, and even though the doctor tells me I shouldn’t play at all, you know, I’m stubborn and I’ll beast through the pain every show for as many songs as I can. We’ve all been waiting years for this moment and there’s no way I’m missing this!” Clufetos is expected to continue to sub for Lee at future shows, Lee says.
