A host of celebrities and more than 75,000 screaming fans turned out to pay tribute to the late, great Taylor Hawkins at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The show opened with a speech from Dave Grohl, inviting fans to “celebrate the life, the music and the love of our dear friend, our bandmate, our brother Taylor Hawkins.“
Guest stars included Liam Gallagher, Wolfgang Van Halen, Lars Ulrich, Travis Barker, John Paul Jones, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, and even a surprise appearance by Paul McCartney.
There was one more guest drummer, a very special one: Taylor’s 16-year-old son Shane Hawkins stole the show when he joined the band for “My Hero”.
A second Taylor Hawkins tribute concert is planned for Sept. 27th in Los Angeles.
