Monday marks an important milestone for one of the most legendary bands in rock.
On January 30th, 1973, KISS took the stage for the first time ever, playing a show at the Popcorn Club in Queens, NYC.
Gene Simmons says there were fewer than ten people in the audience and they were paid just $50 – but the whole band saw a ‘spark’ that would one day take them to the big time.
Sure enough, the band would headline Madison Square Garden within four years – and 50 years later are staging a globe-spanning farewell tour.
