‘Alice Cooper at 75’ Reveals Insight, Candid Photos and More

Per Ole Hagen/Redferns

A new book about Alice Cooper is out.

“Alice Cooper @ 75” was written by Detroit’s Gary Graff, who says, “It isn’t an authorized biography. Alice and his camp had nothing to do with it, other than being remotely encouraging and helping when I needed a fact-check here or there. Otherwise, it’s not theirs. And when it’s not theirs, they don’t get involved, which is fine. Besides, it’s not like his turning 75 is a news flash.”

The book contains a selection of concert and candid photos, album covers, a gatefold timeline, and two pullout posters.

Readers will also find out the truth behind the name “Alice Cooper”, explaining “I just kind of said, ‘Alice Cooper.’ It just came out of my mouth. That was it…It had a quality to it — a little deranged, a little wholesome, a little spooky maybe. And…I felt like it would make people go, ‘Wait…what?! Alice Cooper? They’re all guys. Who’s Alice Cooper?'”

The book is Graff’s third in a series of illustrated biographies celebrating rock ’n’ roll icons’ platinum birthdays, preceded by Bowie @ 75 and Elton John @ 75.
