Nita Strauss on the Difference Between Rock Fans and Pop Fans

Per Ole Hagen/Redferns

Guitar goddess Nita Strauss has learned a lot by touring with both Alice Cooper and Demi Lovato – including the way rock and pop fans are different.

Appearing on Full Metal Jacket, Strauss said rock fans tend to be ‘gatekeepers’ that want to hear songs played a certain way: “People are used to hearing ‘Billion Dollar Babies’ the same way since it was released 50 years ago…For those songs, I really do try to stick very close to the original”.

It’s very different from touring with a pop star like Lovato, who “changed her entire style” and “reworked all her huge hits” for the tour.

Strauss has rejoined Cooper’s band for 2023 and has a solo album coming out this year.
