Kirk Hammett, the guitarist for Metallica, recently revealed how long he has been sober.

“I’m going on nine years sober pretty soon. I [attribute] so much of my own personal growth to getting sober,” said Kirk. “And I wish I would’ve gotten sober a long time ago, but it just wasn’t in the cards, you know? But since getting sober, everything is improved in my life, pretty much everything is improved.”

Metallica began its “M72” global tour this past week with two shows in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

In total, Metallica will perform two nights each in 22 different places worldwide. Currently, Metallica will not visit the Bay Area during the “M72” tour. However, the band will perform in Los Angeles on August 25th and 27th, 2023.
