Mick Jagger, Flea & More Pay Tribute to Tina Turner

The rock world is mourning the death of Tina Turner, who died at her home in Switzerland on Wednesday at the age of 83.

Turner’s spokesperson said, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

Among those paying tribute to the late icon is Mick Jagger, who tweets, “I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.”

Also offering his final respects is Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, who calls Turner the “Truest rocker” and “Greatest performer.” He writes, “[The] most profoundly sexy woman. What a dynamo, what a story, what a heroine. Always an energy inspiration for me, always tapping the source. Tina forever. man. Always been in awe of her and the infinite power.”

Other notable artists who shared their condolences include John Oates from Hall & Oates, Diana Ross, Michael Bolton, Mariah Carey, and John Fogerty.
