Elton John Feels Exposed Without Glasses

Sir Elton John feels “exposed” without his trademark glasses.

The 76-year-old pop legend says he hasn’t been onstage without them in more than 40 years and won’t ever see perform bare-faced again.

In an interview, he explained, “I tried it in the early eighties, but I felt exposed. Glasses give me confidence. I’m not me without them.”

Elton’s husband David Furnish also added that Elton owns thousands of pairs of glasses, and most are kept in storage. Elton has a contract with Gucci to wear their spectacles on stage.

Elton John recently made news for announcing his retirement and then announcing he may take the stage again after retiring.

The legend confirmed that he will “not be going on tour again” once his marathon Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour comes to a close in Stockholm on July 8, but hinted that he is not prepared to give up on performing completely.

“Touring is exhausting for me now, and it takes me away from my family and my children. There maybe the odd show…” said John.

He continued to say he’s ready for “a little bit of freedom” after spending so much time away from his husband and their sons.
