Def Leppard’s Union Jack Look Was a Happy Accident

With the 1983 release of ‘Pyromania,’ Def Leppard took on a unique look that included wearing gear featuring the Union Jack. Turns out, the move was completely random.

Singer Joe Elliott shared via social media, “The day before the ‘Photograph’ video…I had a budget of £25 to buy something to make this video the next day. I was down at King’s Road, and I think it may have been McLaren’s shop Sex.”

Elliott continued, “…I bought these plastic trousers that were too short, so I had to get leg warmers…Adidas boots, handcuff belt. I’ve got 8 quid left, and there’s this Union Jack shirt for £7.99. Outfit done. It wasn’t some big plan. It was just all I had.”

Were you surprised to hear the unique look was all based on £25? What’s your favorite signature attire worn by a rock star? Share your opinions on 107.7 The Bone’s Facebook or Twitter page.
