Corey Taylor Names His Favorite Live Band: ‘They’re so Good That It’s Criminal’

Corey Taylor says Alice in Chains are the best live band.

In a new interview, the Slipknot frontman was asked for his pick and said, “Jerry [Cantrell]. The whole band is amazing….And the way that Sean Kinney, the drummer, swings as he plays because everything for them is naturally slower. The things that they do to manipulate the riffs because they’re so sludgy anyway… The way that they lock in together is fucking unreal. They’re so good that it’s criminal. To this day, they’re that good.”

Taylor made the remarks while discussing his take on the backing track dilemma, where he explained that he feels that relying on tracks leaves the performance with “no vibe” and “no heart.”

Corey Taylor was recently in the news for discussing the hate Slipknot receives in his home state of Iowa. The singer said the state’s increasing conservatism is partly to blame as is the disdain of “bitter” musicians from the area who never had the same level of success.

“There are a lot of people in Iowa that are very ashamed of the fact that Slipknot comes from there and it’s because of this newfound Resurgence and conservative bulls**t. As much as Iowa, when I was there, was a purple State, it’s very red now,” said Taylor.

“There’s a lot of f**king d*cks who still live in Des Moines, Iowa, that are so mad.” Taylor concluded, “I know dudes that I’ve known for 30 years, I run into them and they side-eye me hard.
