Metallica made a hefty donation over the weekend.
The band was in North Texas for gigs at AT&T Stadium on Friday and Sunday and announced Monday they’d donated $35,000 to the food bank through their All Within My Hands foundation.
In a statement Monday, the food bank thanked the band saying, “We want to thank Metallica for this $35,000 gift, their ongoing support of the Tarrant Area and for caring about people who may not know where their next meal will come, especially during these summer months across our 13-county service area.”
The Tarrant Area isn’t the only food bank receiving donations. Through All Within My Hands, $100,000 in grants is going to Tarrant Area Food Bank, The Farmlink Project, and the Center for Transforming Lives.
The Farmlink Project, which is joining Metallica on every US stop this year to connect M72 catering to local organizations that can use the surplus food, is receiving $30,000.
Center for Transforming Lives will also receive $35,000 in grants. CTL “Works side-by-side with women and their children to disrupt the cycle of poverty throughout Tarrant County, providing services that are two-generational and establish long-term financial and emotional well-being.”
Metallica’s M72 World Tour continues with shows in Los Angeles, Phoenix, St. Louis and Detroit before heading to Europe next spring.
