AI Creates Kurt Cobain Biopic

There’s never been a biopic on Kurt Cobain, but AI is on it.

American Songwriter asked ChatGPT to come up with a cast and narrative for such a project.

The result was, “Smells Like Teen Spirit: The Kurt Cobain Story,” which would dive into “The journey of a young man from a troubled childhood to becoming the frontman of the legendary grunge band, Nirvana.”

The flick is broken into three Acts; American Songwriter broke down each Act, writing:

Act 1: The film begins in the rainy town of Aberdeen, Washington, where a teenage Kurt Cobain struggles with a dysfunctional family life and a sense of alienation. He finds solace in music and starts to experiment with various instruments, eventually discovering his passion for playing the guitar and writing songs.

Act 2: Nirvana’s breakthrough comes with the release of their second album, Nevermind, featuring the iconic single ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ The band’s meteoric rise to fame takes a toll on Kurt, who struggles with sudden celebrity status, increased media attention, and battles with drug addiction and depression.

Act 3: The film explores the final days of Kurt Cobain’s life, including his decision to leave Nirvana and his retreat to a secluded cabin in Washington. The narrative builds up to the fateful event of Kurt’s untimely death in April 1994.

AI casted Saoirse Ronan as Courtney Love; Bill Skarsgård as Krist Novoselic; and Joe Keery as Dave Grohl.

Frances McDormand, Josh Brolin and Amy Adams were also given parts. As for Cobain himself, Timothée Chalamet would get the role.
