Forty-nine years after he was ousted from AC/DC, singer Dave Evans is still performing the band’s songs.
While that might not be uncommon, it should be noted that Evans departed before the group recorded their first album.
Evans sang on the group’s first two singles, “Can I Sit Next To You Girl” and “Baby, Please Don’t Go” – both of which he includes in his shows. However, he also belts out a number of songs recorded with his replacement, Bon Scott. Evans says it’s OK for him to do so because Scott sang his two songs after joining the band.
“When he joined the band, he used to do all my songs,” the 70-year-old Evans says. “So he doesn’t mind me a couple of his. But it’s OK to do some of his songs, because the fans love AC/DC, and I do some of Bon Scott songs, and as I said, he used to do my songs too, of course. And Brian Johnson also does some of Bon Scott’s songs as well.”
Watch Evans perform the hit AC/DC song “T.N.T.” at a recent show below.
