Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel has a stunning home that was recently featured in ‘Sunset Magazine.’

Mendel, his wife Kate, and their three children live in a warm, spacious modern home in the San Fernando Valley. However, it wasn’t always the home seen today.

“When I bought the house, I tore it down to a single wall and rebuilt it,” Nate said while discussing their journey to rebuilding.

The home received its biggest upgrade of an 800-square-foot expansion when the couple learned they were expecting twin girls.

“We found out we were doubling the number of kids we had, and that was a big surprise,” shared Kate. “So we needed more space, and didn’t want to leave the neighborhood.”

Despite featuring some custom items, the Mendel home also features affordable items from Anthropologie and HomeGoods.

“Nate and I both love modern design, but for me, adding warmth is very important. It has to feel rich and textured, and I wanted it to feel like a family home with plenty of vintage details,” Kate continued.

The couple’s designer, Younis, credits them for the finished product, explaining, “They don’t have anything to prove. They love beautiful things but don’t feel they need to show off.”
