“Rumour” has it that Fleetwood Mac could be coming to an end. Stevie Nicks agrees with Mick Fleetwood, saying there is no reason for a Fleetwood Mac reunion after Christine McVie death.

Nicks was asked about Fleetwood Mac touring again to which she discussed why the band couldn’t continue after their 2018 and 2019 tour with Neil Finn and Mike Campbell replacing Lindsey Buckingham.

“When Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her,” Nicks said. “Without her, what is it? You know what I mean? She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac. Christine was my best friend.”

Stevie said if they were to continue, the band’s set would have to change due to Christine writing all of its pop hits.

“Christine was the pop star. She wrote all those really super pop hits. None of the rest of us could write those songs. What would happen is we’d have to take the songs out, like we did when she actually retired for 18 years. We couldn’t re-create those songs. So we became a much more hard-rock band,” said Nicks.

“When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this,” Nicks noted. “There’s no reason to.”

Since her death, Nicks, along with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood, have paid tribute to McVie. During a recent performance, Nicks took a moment to thank Taylor Swift for supporting her during her difficult time.

“Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing this thing for me, and that is writing a song called ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid.’ That is the sadness of how I feel.” Nicks shared.

Christine McVie died of a stroke at the age of 79 after being diagnosed with cancer on November 30, 2022.
