It’s a story that has been etched into rock ‘n’ roll history – but unfortunately, it’s not true.

Mick Jagger says the legendary tale where he gets punched in the face by late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts never happened.

Here’s the story, which appeared in Keith Richards’ 2010 memoir Life: While partying in Amsterdam in 1984, a drunk Jagger called Watts in his hotel room asking “Where’s my drummer?” 20 minutes later, Watts showed up “perfectly dressed” in a suit, walked up to Jagger, and punched him, telling him “Never call me your drummer again. You’re my f***ing singer!”

It’s a great story – but Jagger says it was entirely “invented” by Richards.
