Ozzy Osbourne Once Offered to Recruit a Band for Rick Astley

Now here’s a ‘what if’ from rock history that will blow your mind – what if Rick Astley’s band was hand-picked by none other than Ozzy Osbourne?

Believe it or not, it could have happened – long before they became internet memes, Astley hung out with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in Los Angeles in the 1980s.

Astley says Ozzy told him “If you want to put a band together, let me know. I’ve worked with all the greats.”

Astley says he was “gobsmacked” by the offer, before Sharon shut it down: “Will you shut up, he doesn’t want to play with your long-haired, tattooed ****ing monsters”.

As it turns out, Astley is a huge rock’n’roll fan, who grew up playing drums to old AC/DC records.

Speaking of rock history, “The Osbournes Podcast” only restarted a few weeks ago and it has already seen a handful of confessions including Ozzy’s openness to Tai Chi, his ongoing struggles with health, peeing on stage, what he won’t do as a grandparent, and why Sharon thinks Nikki Sixx is an “a**hole.”

In March, the 74-year-old singer opened up about the difficulties of performing, explaining, “Right now I can’t book tours because right now I don’t think I could pull them off.”

“All I know is right now, I’m in a lot of pain, I’m in a lot of discomfort,” Ozzy said.

Despite all his struggles, Ozzy is still hoping to return to the stage in the future.
