Lamont & Tonelli interviewed Ronnie Lott about calls in the NFL, amputating his finger, and his upcoming event with Follow the Music.
When asked about his decision to amputate his pinky finger, Lott explained he doesn’t look at the moment as a “pain” but instead looks at it as a “sacrifice.”
“The doctor said you know what, ‘I think the best thing for you to do is to do this and amputate it.’ To me at that moment, you know reflect on it and I’ve seen a number of soldiers, I grew up in that space in life and we just realized that people make sacrifices. In that case for me, it was a sacrifice but I don’t look back, I look forward and try to move forward with nine and a half fingers.”
Life after football has been busy for Lott, and one of the things keeping him busy is his part in “Follow the Music.” According to the website, “The program is being developed in partnership with Elevate Oakland and leading arts, entertainment, media and sports organizations in the region.”
Lott will attend the organization’s latest event, Guild Theatre in Menlo Park on October 29th. Find more information here.
